GAP Experience

The Connect Interns Experience

One of the most enjoyable experiences for a Connect intern at Extentia is GAP day. GAP is an acronym for “Ghar Aaya Pardesi” which means, ‘bring a foreigner home’ in Hindi. GAP day means much more than just visiting an Extentian’s home though; a Connect intern gets to see what life in India truly is like. Interns get to appreciate what it feels like to be invited to an Indian home and be served a delicious Indian meal. Gap
Gap When GAP day was first introduced, all the interns were thoroughly excited. Living in a foreign country, the interns either dined out at restaurants or cooked instant noodles, eggs or soup at the Extentia apartment. But on this one day of every month, they are served homemade food and get to dine with a loving Indian family.
On GAP day, the interns get to know a whole lot about the rich traditions of the Indian culture. They interact with the family members of the employees and see what living in India is all about. They learn about important traditions, the many unique languages and cultures. They understand that as progressive as India is with the adoption of modern thought, true Indian philosophies are still very much alive and play a vital role in people’s lives. Gap

Interns’ Testimonial:

Gap “I liked the GAP-day on Thursday a lot! Although I’m already living in a family here it was an interesting experience to get to know other people and see how they live. The evening was very nice as Kalpana and her husband told me a lot about Indian traditions and culture and were also very interested in everything I told them about life in Germany. The food was great and Kalpana gave me a beautiful Indian dress which I can’t wait to wear! So, all in all it was a nice evening!.” Belinda Werner, CONNECT Intern from Germany
